In 2016, we expect our compact cars to offer a lot. Great gas mileage, a few cool gadgets, and a comfortable and safe driving experiences are a few check boxes, and most compact cars nail them. But few bring intelligence and variety to the table the way that the 2016 Ford Focus does. In fact, it’s made smart performance its mantra.
The wait for the second generation of the Ford Raptor has been long, but that doesn’t mean the Blue Oval has kept us in the dark about its abilities. Over the summer, they released several videos highlighting the unique features that underpin their next generation off-road pickup. Until now, however, one thing has remained forbidden fruit: the truck’s official power and towing stats.
When Ford launched their Performance division back at the end of 2014, they promised twelve performance-geared models to launch over the preceding five years. Since then, the Detroit automaker has far from disappointed, releasing the lauded Focus RS and Shelby Mustang GT350R. But there are more on the way, and they look to be more impressive than ever.
Ford's self-driving cars are equipped with LIDAR sensors so delicate, they can detect a few of Julie Andrews's favorite things. Raindrops on roses? Not a problem. Snowflakes that stay on your nose and eyelashes? They can identify those too.
The Velodyne LIDAR sensors Ford uses project 2.8 million laser points a second, producing 3D images detailed enough to help drive through silver-white winters before they melt into spring.

2016 marks an important milestone for the Ford F-150. If sales continue at their current pace, it will mark the 40th consecutive year of sales dominance for the Blue Oval's impressive half-tonner. But that's just the tip of the iceberg, as more and more drivers are making the switch to this car than ever before.
